Friends of Blood Bank of Alaska
For 47 years, Blood Bank of Alaska has been an integral part
of our state’s medical community.
As in-state medical treatment has expanded, so has Blood Bank
of Alaska, but not at the same pace. Our current Fairbanks
facility, which has served local needs since 2005, is no longer
adequate. If medical services in the Fairbanks community and
the state are to thrive, we must increase blood collections
and product offerings.
Blood Bank of Alaska can no longer adequately nor efficiently
provide services from its existing facility in Fairbanks and
is therefore seeking funding to construct a new facility with
the ability to collect apheresis platelets locally.
We are launching a campaign project this Fall designed to
help our state keep pace with the services and technology
provided elsewhere. Your support will be instrumental in meeting
this goal as we enter 2010.
